Although I do have empathy on their part because I understand the environment they’re in. They care deeply about social media exposure, mostly because they do not know how to sell books from scratch. </span></p>

<span style="font-size:16px;">Now if you are going to start from scratch, and go to one of the big publishers, they'll throw you out faster than you come in, if you can’t prove you already have a large social media presence. And if you don’t – you’re not getting a deal. </span><br><br></p>

You Can’t Just Willy Nilly Your Way To A Best-Seller
To get your book even remotely close to a best-seller list, you have to use social media to your advantage. There are going to be some constraints imposed on what you do, and you're going to have to decide whether you’re going to go big, broad or focused.
Are you going to do it or do you want it to happen organically and virally? So you have to think of that BEFORE you start any strategy. You can’t just willy-nilly your way to a bestseller.
Nowadays, publishers are doing sensitivity editing. If it were my book, I am known to be serious. Although I do have empathy on their part because I understand the environment they’re in. They care deeply about social media exposure, mostly because they do not know how to sell books from scratch.
Now if you are going to start from scratch, and go to one of the big publishers, they'll throw you out faster than you come in, if you can’t prove you already have a large social media presence. And if you don’t – you’re not getting a deal.
So again you have to decide what approach you’re going to take. Is it Facebook? LinkedIn? Where is going to be promoted? Is there something you’re going to design that’s going to go viral? Is there something you’re going to design that’s a bit controversial, but not so controversial that it gets you banned?
